I attended a cheerleading competition today. There were a lot of "good" teams competing but the ones that were "great" were the teams that showed dedication to practicing their craft. Of course on every team you could spot someone with raw talent but in most cases it did not improve the overall performance of the team.
I say all this because it gives me a great example to live by in my musical journey. In the past, I have benefited from lots of practice in my dance career, and even when I was a cheerleader in junior high and high school. Looking at how I am currently handling my musical career, I can honestly say that although, I do practice, I often allow my other commitments to get in the way of me practicing on a daily basis.
Although I have been blessed with great raw talent, the more I progress, I am going to have to practice, practice, practice!!!!
It seems so simple, but when you are a new wife and mother, it is not always easy. i am not making any excuses, my commitment to succeeding in music is very solid. I am determined to wade through everything and exceed my own expectations.
Have fun watching the Superbowl!!!

I agree! In fact, I've started calling myself a "student of poetry" instead of a poet. If I want to master this craft, I have to put more into it!
